Many people get roadblocked about the technical aspects of recording and editing videos. You don’t need fancy equipment or editing software to get started on your video journey—most of what you need you probably already have or simple to purchase.
What if I told you that you didn’t need a big budget or fancy equipment to get started with recording videos? That you could just do it yourself.
All you need to get started is a smartphone, good light (this could be as easy as standing in front of a window) and a tripod or pop socket.
Your smartphone is the most up-to-date video camera out of that. This is what content creators are using to create videos. A smartphone makes it easy to produce, and the camera often has software installed to trim down videos. It’s an easy place to start, and the apps are often pretty intuitive to use.
Good lighting is key. The trick here, record facing a window. That’s exactly how I get awesome lighting for my videos.
Lastly, look into purchasing a tripod for your phone. I have a couple that I use that range $20-60. Often, they come with a light, so if you need more light, you have it. I started with using a pop socket.
Action step: play around with the video option on your phone’s camera. Learn how to trim or edit down videos. If you have iMovie on your phone, take it for a spin.
